from then…..to ADHD Clarity Now

Natalie Bird BSc MBBS MRcPsych
Co-founder

Natalie emphasises the importance of a holistic approach in helping people to manage their ADHD.

Having gained her medical degree at University College London she trained in psychiatry including general adult,, learning disability, old age and drug and alcohol services in hospitals across London, Essex and Surrey.

She continued her career specialising in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry whilst caring for her own three children for 12 years.

She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

For the past five years she has worked in the NHS ADHD Service at St. Albans Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

Her work there has included diagnosing and treating children and young people with ADHD, and supporting their families. This has involved Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Systemic Family Therapy.

Alongside this work, Natalie has created psychological education training for the long-term unemployed, and acted as a professional supervisor and coach.

Her ultimate aim is to foster acceptance and compassion for those in the ADHD community, so they can thrive in the wider world.

Stephen Morris MSc
Co-founder

Steve was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood. So he appreciates that getting the correct diagnosis can be difficult, navigating the process can be challenging, and that there is a role for professionals to help and support adults in understanding and accepting the condition.

Trained in motivational interviewing, psychodrama and applied theatre, Steve is also qualified in CBT-based group work with high risk offenders and one-to-one facilitation. He has an MSc in Attachment Studies from the University of Roehampton, where he lectures and trains professionals in Dynamic-Maturational Model (DMM) Attachment. He is also an associate lecturer at University of Hertfordshire.

As founder of The Facilitation Agency, he co-designed and co-delivered training programmes for probation officers, and the Healthier Relationships Courses funded by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

He has also trained professionals in motivational interviewing in mental health, social care and rehabilitation settings, and delivered inclusion training for clients including National Grid, Barclays Bank, and the NHS.

As a co-director of Eureka (using psychological education and group work to empower individuals and groups), and PEAR (a psychological education and resilience training company), Steve has co-designed and delivered behavioural change programmes for DWP, Civil Aviation, the Railway Safety Standards Board and London Met University.

He is currently working with the NHS to co-produce the next generation of mental health and learning disability support for CAMHS.

Ours is not the only service outside the NHS for adults with ADHD. However, we believe ADHD Clarity Now is unique because of how it has developed from the combined experience and histories of its co-founders.

There are many practitioners who understand adult ADHD. Steve Morris is an adult with ADHD.

Whilst there are many ADHD coaches, Natalie Bird brings psychiatric training and experience in family therapy, CBT and DBT, to the coaching process to provide the solution that works best for the client, whatever it may be.

Having worked in a huge variety of settings – from the NHS to the Prison Service and business and industry – and with a decade-long friendship, Steve and Natalie together bring a non-judgemental, articulate, energetic approach to helping and supporting adults with ADHD, and those around them.

What drives them both is the desire to bring about positive change in people’s lives, and to create understanding and clarity around ADHD – now.
